The iOS companion app to Cloud Mate has been released, bringing the ability to view and manage your iCloud documents to your iPhone. There’s some serious voodoo going on here, in that Cloud Mate—a sandboxed app on iOS—is able to access the documents belonging to another app, but it’s because of its ability to communicate with the non-sandboxed OS X app.

When you fire up the app, you’re shown a list of all of the apps using iCloud; drill down to see your documents and tap for a preview of the file which can then be opened in any other app that can handle the file type.

Note that the app [iOS, $4] requires the OS X app to operate.

Update (5/10/2013): Cloud Mate is now universal and works on iPad.
