Daylite 5 Adds New Insights View, More

Marketcircle announced today that version 5 of its customer care and business productivity app is available for download on its website and on the iOS App Store. (The MAS version of Daylite is absent, my guess, due to the review process.) My full review of Daylite 5 will be up shortly, but you can read all about what’s new in Daylite 5 on Marketcircle’s website.

As with any x.0 release of a business-critical app or operating system, I recommend holding off upgrading until things shake out a bit. Although I’ve been using DL5 for a while now and haven’t seen any bugs that would cause data loss or productivity issues, good business sense would dictate users wait until Marketcircle has issued a x.0.1 release that fixes the most egregious bugs that users are bound to report. (Yes, I understand the Catch-22 scenario I’m proposing.) And my clients should definitely contact me to see if there are any additional issues that would affect an orderly transition to DL5.

If you do decide to upgrade, you should be aware that the data format has changed and you will not be able to return to DL4 unless you have a restorable backup. This is a good time to make sure your backup strategy for your database is viable—contact me if you have any questions.
